At last -- after many years of buzz, the Richmond Ferry terminal is scheduled to operate beginning September this year. This added terminal will provide an alternative way of getting to work for those who live in the Richmond and El Cerrito area. I take the Alameda ferry myself from time to time and I must say that I enjoy looking out at bay views as part of the commute. I certainly hope it frees up traffic on 80.
Service will begin with 3 trips each AM to the SF Ferry Building and 4 return trips in the PM with 30 minute rides. The location will be at the former Ford Assembly plant by the Craneway Pavilion with a 362 spot parking lot.
